Betty Jean Chastain

Betty Jean Chastain, 95, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born on June 26, 1930, to the late Jay and Mary Alice Surratt. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Perry Chastain; son, Charles Chastain; son-in-law, Wendall Logan; brothers and sister-in-law, C.N. and Ella Mae Surratt, Jack Surratt; sisters and brother-in-law, Nettie Joe and Charles Guffy, Mildred Norell, and Francise Andrews.

Betty is survived by her son, Perry Chastain; daughters, Martha Logan and Patricia Jean Chastain; daughter-in-law, Angie Chastain; sister-in-law, Faye Surratt; grandchildren, Angela Summers, Marcus Logan, Cindy McGinnis, Sherry Whittmore, Charlie Chastain, Keisha Chastain, and Lisa Wiley; eleven great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church.

The funeral service will follow on Friday at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Southers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
