Bettye Fuquea Butler

Bettye D. Fuquea Butler, 85, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, after several months of declining health.  She was born in Calhoun, Georgia on May 9, 1938, to the late Raymond and Floy Fuquea.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bobby Lee Butler; son, Jason Butler; daughter, Hollie Butler; brothers, Kenneth Fuquea, Larry Fuquea; sisters, Lana Greeson, Vicki Hicks, Donna Fuquea; son-in-law, Kenny Dixon.

She is survived by her son, Mitch (Tara) Butler; daughters, Candi Butler (Charles) Talley, Angie (David) Konter, Penny Dixon, Tina (Eddie) Fair; brother, Gary (Wynette) Fuquea; sisters, Janet (Larry) Thomason, Joan Roach, Melinda Parker; brothers-in-law, Jan Greeson, Eddie Couch; grandchildren, Lauren and Brooke Talley; Corey (Daisy) Konter and Savannah (Austin) Fowler; Shelby Dixon; Branson (Ashley) Fair; Trey (Bayley) Fair; great-grandchildren, Camila Konter; Belle and Skylar Fowler; Ava Whitfield and Riley Fair.

Bettye was a life-long member of Wesley Chapel Church.  She loved her church family and served at every opportunity.  She was an avid walker, walking ten miles a day, six days a week.  She was a yearly participant in the Unity Run and won her age group as recently as 2022.  Betty had limitless energy and was always on the go.  Even as her health began to fail, she was determined to keep her house clean and get back to church as soon as possible.   She will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, and from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Wesley Chapel Church.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM from Wesley Chapel Church of Calhoun with Pastor Greg Burgner and Pastor Mark Lovell officiating.  Burial will follow in Gaines Cemetery.  Pallbearers serving are Chance Hicks, Richard Greeson, Heath Thomason, Michael Roach, Brent Jones, Hagen Thomason, Gabe Thomason, and Rob Kessler.  The members of her Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers.  

The family would like to thank AdventHealth Gordon Hospital, Advent Home Health, Tapestry Hospice, and her special friend and caretaker, Songa Dixon.
