Beth Baxter DeFoor

Beth Baxter DeFoor, 84, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after an extended illness. She was born in Dalton, Georgia, on August 27, 1942, to the late Grady C. and Cathryn Hackett Baxter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. DeFoor and brother, Johnny C. Baxter.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly DeFoor Poarch (Chuck); a son, Russell B. DeFoor (Heather); four grandchildren, Drew Poarch (Crystal), Taylor D. McDougal (Shawn), Noelle DeFoor, and Jack P. DeFoor (Sydnie); five great-grandchildren, Jack T. and Knox McDougal, Iris, Isla, and Grady P. DeFoor, and Johnny D. Poarch, all of Calhoun. She is also survived by a sister, Jane B. Bowyer (Ralph) of Savannah, Georgia; an uncle, Pete Hackett of Ringgold, Georgia; brother-in-law, Lloyd DeFoor (Susan) of Augusta, Georgia; life-long friend, Barbara S. Holsomback (Neil) of Sugar Valley, Georgia, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside service will be held in Mount Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Gordon Health and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice for their mother’s excellent care.
