Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Hayes) Bray, age 76, of Fairmount, Georgia, formerly of Calhoun/Dalton/Dawnville, Ga., passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at her residence. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara had a tremendous love for her Lord and Savior and loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara was a member of the Assembly of Faith Church of Dew's Pond; Pastor was the late Alvin Suggs. Barbara was retired and frequently reminisced upon her time as a biscuit maker at Frenchs Grocery in Red Bud. Barbara always enjoyed the kindness of people enjoying her cooking and the expressions after the first bite of their morning biscuits. Barbara loved her family, friends, and community.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles Lee Bray with whom she celebrated 58 years of blissful marriage; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Dana Bray, Tony and Sharon Bray; daughter, Lori Bray, and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kevin Pruitt; grandchildren, Charles (Stephanie) Jeffery Bray Jr., Drake (Hanah) Bray, Jeremy (Jasmine) Bray, Brandi (Anthony) Dutton, April Hurndon (Blake), Cody Hurndon, Holly (Joseph) Land, Rebecca Bray (Blake), Savannah Bray (Shane), Levi (Nicole) Thompson, Austin Bray, Nicole (Dawson) Flowers, Laynie Nix, Bo (Danyelle) Pruitt, Steven Pruitt, Brittney (Shane) Gurley; several great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Hayes; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara was born on Wednesday, May 22, 1946, in Whitfield County, Georgia, the daughter of the late William Oscar Hayes Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth (Jones) Hayes of Dalton, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Jeffery Bray Sr. of Calhoun; sisters, Francis Bray of Calhoun, Helen Faw, Katherine Armstrong of Dalton, and Pearlie Hayes of Michigan; brothers, Jess, John Earl, Floyd Runyan, Richard, Charles Buddy, and William Oscar Hayes of Dalton.
Funeral services for Barbara Ann (Hayes) Bray will be conducted on Wednesday, September, 14th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Swift officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include, C.J., Drake, Jeremy and Austin Bray, Levi Thompson, and Cody Hurndon.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14th between the hours of 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home.
