Alfred Owens

Mr. Alfred Owens, age 71 of East Valley Road; Rydal, Georgia; past away Saturday, October 28, 2006 at his residence.

Mr. Owens was born on November 10, 1934 in Muscogee County, Georgia; son of the late Frank and Victoria Mathis Owens. He was also preceded in death by sisters; Lillie Jones, Annie Lou Pascone, Myrtle Lee and brothers; Gary Owens and S.B. Owens. Mr. Owens was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict and retired as a Trainman for Southern Railway, Inc. He was a member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Betty Ruth Howell Owens to whom he was married in 1953. Four daughters; Vickie Chapman of Bainbridge, Georgia; Yvonne Dobbins of Madison, Ind.; Paula Rush of Calhoun, Georgia and Jennifer O'Donald of Hawaii. Thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Owens will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Concord Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Fain Jordan, Rev. Timothy O'Donald and Pastor Sammy Allen officiating. Singing will be arranged by Mrs. Jimmie Lou Allen. Pallbearers serving will include; Harry Dobbins, Kevin Rush, Tim O'Donald, Jerry Chapman, Robert Dobbins, Zachary Rush, Dan Caudill and Jason Mitch. Mr. Owens will lie in state at the Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening during the hours of 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday; Mr. Owens will lie in state at the church at 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
