Albin Troy Chastain, 77, of Fairmount, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He was born in Fairmount, Georgia, on July 18, 1949, to the late Harvey “Dutch” and Stella Williams Chastain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon Chastain and Tony Chastain; sister, Barbara Silvers; grandson, Noah Chastain.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janie Godfrey Chastain; son, Kevin (Karen) Chastain; daughters, Petrina (Willie) Pritchett, Amanda (Jason) Seritt, Tiffany (Michael) Jones; brothers, Edward Chastain, Gerald Chastain; grandchildren, Kyle (Amy) Chastain, Will (Mckenzie) Pritchett, Harleigh (Dylan) Dixon, Sandra Beth Pritchett, Ian Seritt, Cason Seritt, Kairsten Sims, Brody Seritt, Landon Jones, Chandler (Hannah) Shaw; great-grandchildren, Mayleigh and Ridge Dixon, Harper and Hudson Chastain, Whitleigh Pritchett, Lila and Wyatt Shaw.
Troy Chastain was truly one of the best men you would ever meet. He lived his life walking faithfully with Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Ryo Baptist Church.
Troy and Janie shared a wonderful relationship for more than 55 years. Troy was a loving husband and devoted father to their four children. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years. While stationed in Germany, he drove fuel trucks and was responsible for their maintenance.
Troy was a talented and passionate softball player. He also enjoyed coaching his children and continued that love by supporting his grandchildren’s teams, creating many wonderful memories along the way.
Troy loved his family more than anything and always made sure to be there for them. Whether it was a family gathering, sporting event, school function, or any other important occasion, his family could always count on him to show up and show his love and support.
In his free time, Troy enjoyed woodworking. He made bookcases, toy boxes, cabinets, and many other items for his loved ones.
He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, whether they were winning or losing.
Troy’s love for NASCAR went far beyond simply watching the races. Over the years, he built a collection of NASCAR memorabilia, with his favorite driver being Bill Elliott. If you knew Troy, you knew he was a true Ford man. He loved his trucks and cars. One of the most special cars in his life was the Ford Torino that he and Janie drove away in after their wedding.
Troy leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and the love of his family and friends. His kindness, devotion, and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM from Pleasant Grove Ryo Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Ryo Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Kyle Chastain, Will Pritchett, Ian Seritt, Cason Seritt, Brody Seritt, Chandler Shaw, Dylan Dixon, Jordan Stone, and Landon Jones. Honorary pallbearer will be Noah Chastain.
