Obituary

Thomas Charles Hopper, a well-known resident of Gordon County, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Charles was born on July 2, 1936, son of the late Lawson Hopper and Eva Miller Hopper. In addition to his parents, his wife, Florence Poole Hopper and his brother, Donald Hopper, preceded him in death. He was retired from Shaw Industries, and enjoyed spending time with his friends at Dairy Queen, Bojangles, and Fairmount Drugstore Diner. He enjoyed watching RFD TV and listening to Bluegrass music. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Mechelle Hopper of Smyrna, GA; his sister, Linda Hopper Smith of Resaca; nephews and nieces, Terry Hopper, Melissa Woods, Melinda Barber, Sonya Flippen, and Ryan Smith; stepchildren, Gayla Scoggins, Glenda King, Joy Owens, and Marvin Poole; his former wife and mother of his daughter, Louise Hopper of Ranger; and several other relatives.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 13th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Wayne Howell. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Tommy Bevil, Sidney Abernathy, Terry Hopper, Morris Flippen, and Ryan Smith.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 12th at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
