Obituary

Mr. Gerald "Scott" Carter, 50, of Resaca, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Advent-Gordon Hospital, following complications from a stroke.
He was born in Forsyth, Georgia on July 30, 1969, son of Carolyn Dooley Carter and the late Gerald Carter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Shane Carter. Scott was a member of the 1987 graduating class of Calhoun High School.
Scott was a Southern boy. He loved his three daughters and if you wanted to see Scott beam, all you had to do was ask about them, he loved his mama, daddy, who also died too young, brothers and extended family, good food, especially barbeque, country music, especially Bocephus, football, at which he was talented enough to earn a scholarship to UTC, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, his trucks, John Wayne movies, four-wheeler's, guns and dogs.
Survivors include three daughters; Hannah Carter, Melia Carter and Olivia Carter, his mother, Carolyn Dooley Carter, brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Patti Choate, nieces and nephews; Colby Shane Carter, Laura Faye Carter, Halie Choate, Sara Choate and Kevin Choate Jr., great nephew, Bryson Carter, great neice, Breiln Carter, uncle and aunt, Harold and Ann Dooley, cousin, Shawna Dooley and Angie Dixon Carter, mother of his children.
The funeral service for Mr. Gerald "Scott" Carter will be held on Tuesday, January 7th at 2:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Sheriff and Rev. David Ridgeway officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Hall Memorial Road, Resaca, GA. Pallbearers serving include; Jeff Duvall, Stacy Cochran, David Boswell, Brian Ruddell, David Langston, Todd Rutledge, Danny Carter and Steve Carter. Honorary pallbearers include; Mitch Ralston, Russell Defoor, Tommy Gazaway, Joey Baker, Darren Woodring, David Ridgeway, Alan Poarch, Keith Dixon and Mike Jones.
The family will receive friends, Monday, January 6th at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Online condolences may be expressed at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
