Roy Venson Rutledge

Mr. Roy Venson Rutledge, 87, of Calhoun, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home. He was born in Gordon County on December 9, 1930, son of the late Harrison and Maude Stanford Rutledge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, James Rutledge, Rex Rutledge, Jessie Rutledge, Carl Rutledge, J.B. Rutledge, Bill Rutledge, Mack Rutledge, Gladys Ruddell, Burma Swann, Wincie Harkins, and Claudine Johnson.

Mr. Rutledge was a life-long resident of Gordon County. He retired from Collins & Aikman after 27 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and gardening. He was a lifetime member of Damascus Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Kay Bearden Rutledge; his daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Randy Tetzlaff of Medina, TN, Kathy Dodd of Calhoun, and Kelly and Gary Parker of Calhoun; his grandchildren, Alex and Seth Tetzlaff, Erin Childers (Brian), Miranda Parker Pass, and Derek Parker; and his great-grandchildren, Allie and Trevor Childers, Savannah and Cooper Pass, and Athens, Carter, and Kolby Parker.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Roy Venson Rutledge will be held Saturday, January 20th, at 11:00 AM, from Damascus Baptist Church, with Rev. Lamar Bearden and Rev. Ray Bearden officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Hibberts officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Michael Rutledge, Brian Childers, Derek Parker, Alex Tetzlaff, Seth Tetzlaff, and Trevor Childers. Honorary pallbearers are Roy McBrayer, Clifton Smith, Jeff Ruddell, Estes Pass, Norman Hollingsworth, Carl Adcock Virgil Slaven, and Larry Bowen.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, January 19th, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
