Obituary

Robert Patterson "Jab" Messer, 69, of Calhoun died Saturday, October 05, 2019. He was born in Houston, TX on January 11, 1950. He was the son of the late Robert Cecil Messer and Roxie Estelle Goble Messer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Gayle Quinn and Charles "Monk" Quinn. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and worked in law enforcement for many years in Calhoun and Dalton, prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Messer; children, Shawn Messer, Dawn Messer and Jody Thornton, Deidra Messer Daniel and Clifford, and Tiffany Messer Faulknor and Justin; grandchildren, Jasmine, Payton, Chloe, Maddi, Sofia, Adam, and Jacob; a brother, Roderick Messer; and nieces and nephews, Tamara Quinn, Melanie Quinn, Scott Quinn, and Jeffery Quinn.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Shane Parrott officiating.
