Mr. Perlie Isaac Thompson, Jr., 68 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, August 03, 2016 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Athens, TN on July 15, 1948, son of the late Perlie and Kitty Seldon Thompson.

Junior was a veteran, serving his country in the US Marines from 1968 until 1972. He received numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Mast, Good Conduct Medal, Pistol Sharpshooter, and Rifle Expert. He had been employed with Mohawk for many years, and was a member of New Town Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Dolly Lee Thompson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Kristopher and April Thompson, and Brian and Tiffany Rose, all of Calhoun; his daughter, Diana Diaz of Calhoun; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Nadine Thompson of Morristown, TN, Sammy and Laure Thompson of Madisonville, TN, and David and Linda Thompson of Ten Mile, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Philip Hammond of Rome; grandchildren, Kylia Sanan, Andrew Baker, Dalton Rose, Jaylee Teems, Tia Teems, and Kristian Thompson; and a great-grandchild, Sergio Sanan. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Perlie Isaac Thompson, Jr. will be held Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Music will be arranged by the New Town Men's Trio. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Andrew Baker, Adam Hammond, Brandon Roland, Jason Thompson, Jonathon Thompson, and Kevin Thompson.

The Thompson family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 5th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
