Nina Brown Cox

Mrs. Nina Brown Cox, 80 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, March 09, 2015 at Gordon Health Care following several months of declining health. She was born in DeKalb County, AL on August 8, 1934, daughter of the late John Henry and Mattie Hawkins Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Larry Brown and Virgil Brown; and sisters, Bea Sluder, Dessie Mae Williams, and Bernice Horne.

Mrs. Cox was retired from Regal Residence.

She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Samuel Loyd Cox; a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Trish Cox of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Randy Holland of Calhoun, and Betty and Davey Vining of Ranger; a brother and sister-in-law, J.T. and Doris Brown of Atlanta; grandchildren, Chad Cox, Justin (Candace) Cox, Rachel (Josh) Holbert, Chandra (Michael) Hall, and Blake Holland; great-grandchildren, Aleah Cox, Clayton Cox, Cody Cox, Thatcher Hall, Lainee Hall, and Will Hall; a special sister-in-law, Alma Baker; and special family friend, Edna Young.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Gordon Health Care, and special caregivers Mary Childers and Rachel Skinner for their compassion and care for Mrs. Cox.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Nina Brown Cox will be held Wednesday, March 11th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Hershel Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Chad Cox, Justin Cox, Blake Holland, Michael Hall, Josh Holbert, Brad Cochran, Roy Pierce, T.C. Brown, and Thatcher Hall.

The Cox family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 10th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
