Obituary

Mary Lee Knight, age 99 of Calhoun, died peacefully early Sunday morning, June 23, 2019 at Advent Health Gordon Hospital. She was born in Floyd County on May 28, 1920, daughter of the late Frank and Ellen Coker Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Knight in 1984; her sons-in-law, Jerry Childs and Ray Nolan; her brother, Henry Duncan; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice and Roland Hogan, and Martha and Eason Dupree.
Survivors include her son, Lester Knight; her daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Jerry Casey, Margie and Lawrence Moss, Carolyn Childs, and Debbie Noland; and her grandchildren, Randy and Dana Casey, Chastain and Trina Moss, Shane and Julie Moss, Brent and Patricia Casey, Carmen and Stan Penland, Jared and Maddison Noland, and Jennifer Noland. Twenty-three great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26th at 11:00 AM from Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with Rev Winfred Casey, Rev. Ronnie Wells, and Rev. Bryan Childs officiating. Music will be arranged by Jerry Casey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Chastain Moss, Shane Moss, Randy Casey, Brent Casey, Jared Nolan, Bryan Childs, Matt Casey, Easton Childs, Devin Oesterle, and Chas Moss. Honorary pallbearers are remaining grandchildren, Geraldine Vest, and the staff of Homestead Hospice.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The family requests flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to The Gordon County Camp, Gideons International, P.O. Box 1254, Calhoun, GA 30703-1254.
The family would like to thank the staff of Homestead Hospice for their special care and compassion of Mrs. Knight. Also, a special thanks to Geraldine Vest, Advent Health Gordon, Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, and family and friends who showed their love and support during her illness.
