Marvin Ray Waters

Marvin Ray Waters, 59 of Chatsworth, GA died Friday, August 14, 2015 at Hamilton Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Marion County, TN on July 28, 1956, son of the late Leonard (Pete) and Joyce J. Powell Waters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Waters and Cecil Waters; and a sister, Martha Waters.

Marvin loved the outdoors, and was an early riser; getting up every morning at 3:00 AM. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Susie Waters of Dunlap, TN, and Randy and Linda Waters of Gruetli, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Stevens of Chatsworth, Alma Greene, Peggy Hamilton, Barbara and Wyman Sullivan, Frankie and Fred Maxwell, Kay Ross, and Janice and Pete Watts, all of Whitwell, TN; his canine friend, Payton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services to honor the life of Marvin Ray Waters will be held Monday, August 17th at 2:00 PM from Mount Zion Baptist Church, 247 Mt. Zion Road, Resaca, GA 30735, with Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Mr. Waters' body will lie in state at the church Monday from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Music will be arranged by Linda Anderson. Interment will follow the service in Brackett Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Ricky Waters, Timothy Waters, Mark Baggett, and Charlie Baggett.

Flowers are to be omitted, and contributions made to the Marvin Ray Waters Memorial Fund, c/o Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1027, Calhoun, GA 30703.

The Waters family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 16th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
