Martha Stansell Hughes

Mrs. Martha Stansell Hughes, 63 of Adairsville, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. She was born in Calhoun, GA on October 9, 1951, daughter of the late John Roy and Evelyn Fuller Stansell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Hill, Betty Patterson, and Vera Stansell.

Martha loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, and an avid reader. She had been employed with Crown Crafts and Mohawk Industries, and was a member of Moss Memorial Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Will Hughes; her son, Tony Lamar Hughes of Resaca; her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Danny Amonett of Adairsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Doyle and Gwen Stansell of Calhoun, Johnny and Denise Stansell of Calhoun, and James Stansell of Adairsville; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane Young of Adairsville, Frances and Donald Timms of Resaca, Judy Hill of Calhoun, and Nancy and David Dodd of Resaca. Grandchildren surviving are Joshua Hughes, Brooke Caudle, Jase Hughes, Gracie Amonett, Shelby Amonett, and Alexis Patterson; and great-grandchildren, Brently Walden, Reagan and Karsyn Hughes, and Bella Caudle.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Martha Stansell Hughes will be held Wednesday, July 22nd at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Hibberts and Rev. Ronald Goss officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park.

The Hughes family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 21st from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
