Obituary

Margie Dupree Hughes, 82, of Calhoun died on Monday, February 24, 2020 following several years of declining health. Margie was born in Whitfield County on March 17, 1937; she was the daughter of the late Orlando and Ruby Emma Foster Dupree. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, George R. Davis in 1969, John Walker in 1989, and Cobell Hughes in 2004; her sons, Richard Wayne Davis and Terry Kevin Davis. Margie was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She retired from Fafnir and later worked for The Calhoun First National Bank. She loved her travels and especially enjoyed taking trips with The Gadabouts.
Margie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Genie and Juan Nix; her sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Cindi Davis and Steve Davis; step daughter, Cynthia Walker;her grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Victoria, April, Matthew, Mystie, Jeremy, Rusty, Wade, Rachel, Rob, Kristi, Kandi, Jennifer, Michael, Amber, Jonathan, Malynda, and Timothy; many great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild, sister, Frances Marable; other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery. Rev. Harold Blackstock and Rev. Shane Parrott will officiate. Margies grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family suggests that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society (Cancer.org) or The American Diabetes Association (Diabetes.org). Friends may sign the online guest register at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
