Larry Nicholson

Mr. David Larry Nicholson, age 70 of the Sonoraville Community, died Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Athens, TN on May 22, 1946, son of the late Otis and Edith Wyatt Nicholson.
Larry was a graduate of Fairmount High School, and a veteran, serving his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam era; he was awarded the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on August 23, 1968 as Corporal. He was retired from Model High School as Maintenance Supervisor.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Joyce Alline Mealor Nicholson; his son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Angel Nicholson of Adairsville; his daughters and sons-in-law, Andreia and Curtis Chapman of Rome, and Amy and Clayton Blanchard of Adairsville; a sister, Shirley Nicholson Woodall of Calhoun; grandchildren, Crysta Nicholson, Kyle Blanchard, Alley Nicholson, James Blanchard,Faith Blanchard, Derrick and Ashley Fuller, and Brandon and Heather Cook; and great-grandchildren, Brinkley Cook, Rawlin Cook, and Zoey Blanchard. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a great-aunt and great-uncle also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mr. David Larry Nicholson will be held Tuesday, December 27th at 3:00 PM from Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with Dr. Larry Hibberts and Rev. Gregg Free officiating. Interment, with Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard and will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Danny Mealor, Donnie Mealor, Gary Mealor, Bruce Mealor, James Blanchard, and Derrick Fuller. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Kirby, Eddie Woodall, Mikey Wyatt, Kenny Wyatt, and Buddy Wyatt.
The Nicholson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Monday, December 26th from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
