Judith J. "Jackie" Hyde

Mrs. Judith J. “Jackie” Hyde, 79, of Rome, Georgia, formerly of Woodstock and Calhoun, GA., died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at AdventHealth-Redmond following a period of declining health.

Mrs. Hyde was born in Rome, Georgia on July 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Rev. Paul E. Willis and Mildred Formby Willis. She was the Co-Valedictorian of the 1961 graduating class of Pepperell High School. After her marriage to Charles E. Hyde, who preceded her in death in 2007, they made their home in Marietta, GA. During her working career as a church secretary, she served at Calvary Baptist Church in Marietta, GA, First Baptist Church Woodstock in Woodstock, GA, and Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun, GA, collectively for 40 years. After retirement in 2018, she remained in Calhoun, GA, until 2022, when she moved to Magnolia Place at the Spires at Berry College in Rome. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Renee Willis in 1995. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Dawn Hyde Batchelor and her husband, Dr. William Batchelor of Auburn, AL, one son and daughter-in-law; Brig. Gen. U.S. Air Force (Ret.) Charles K. Hyde and his wife Jodie of Chattanooga, TN; grandsons: Capt. U.S. Army, Robert Hyde of Ft. Polk, LA, David Batchelor and his wife Victoria of Grovetown, GA, Capt. U.S. Army George Hyde and his wife Lindsey of Whispering Pines, NC, Adam Batchelor of Collinsville, AL, Jacob Batchelor and his wife Kenzie of Dothan, AL, and Samuel Batchelor and his wife Kendall of Marietta, GA; sisters: Debbie Willis Rogers and husband Hall of Rome, GA, Jan Willis Bradfield and her husband, Phil of Armuchee, GA, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Willis of Rome, GA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 4th at 11:00 A.M. from the Belmont Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Williams officiating, the eulogy will be given by Rev. John Darnell. Music will be arranged by Jim and Treva Sellers and David and Sherry Mashburn. A  family graveside service will follow on Wednesday, April 5th at 11:00 AM  in Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome, GA with Dr. Stephen Williams. Pallbearers serving will include the grandsons, Robert Hyde, George Hyde, David Batchelor, Adam Batchelor, Jacob Batchelor and Samuel Batchelor.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3rd at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

Mrs. Hyde’s body will be moved to the church on Tuesday to lie in state one-hour preceding the funeral service.
