Obituary

Mr. Jerry K. Arnold, 83, of Sugar Valley died at his home on Monday, July 29, 2019 following several months of declining health. Jerry was born in Richard City, Tennessee on August 9, 1935. His parents, Rev. and Mrs. Clarence J. and Gertrude M. Arnold, preceded him in death. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Patricia K. Parson Arnold, who died in 2001, and Dorothy M. Smith Arnold, who died in 2018; his brothers, Fred E. Arnold and Randy Arnold. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jerry was a faithful servant of God. He was an active member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was a former member and the clerk of Spearsville Church of Christ in Indiana. Jerry proudly served his country in The United States Air Force. From 1968 until his retirement in 2001, he worked with Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a member of the American Legion Post 400, United Auto Workers Union Local 111, and the National Rifle Association.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, M. Suzanne Arnold (Mark Millhoff) and Sandra Bearden; sons, Allen Arnold, Steve Arnold, Eddie (Kyle) Smith, Ricky (Stacey) Smith, and Michael Smith; his grandchildren, Bradi M. Burgess, Louis A. Arnold, Ayden L. Arnold, Quade J.R. Burgess, Savannah Sullivan, Mallory Odom, Lauren Moss, Sierra Waters, Sydney Smith, Mason Smith, and Mia Smith; his great-grandchildren, Percy L. Gregory-Parkevich IV, Natalie Sullivan, Eli Sullivan, Nora Sullivan, Samuel Odom, Rhett Moss, and Olivia Franklin; his sister, Eleanor (Willard) Goble; his brothers, Macklin B. Arnold and Philip W. (Anthea) Arnold; his nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The Arnold family will receive friends at Sugar Valley Baptist Church on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow the visitation from Sugar Valley Baptist Church on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Following the service, honors will be rendered by The United States Air Force at the church. Burial will be at Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Mitch Phillips will officiate. Jerrys grandsons will serve as pallbearers and members of his Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Jerrys wish was that instead of flowers, donations be made to the childrens program at Sugar Valley Baptist Church.
