Jeffery Shane Smith

Mr. Jeffery Shane Smith, 52, of Calhoun passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 30, 2023 following a period of declining health.

Shane was born in Gordon County, Georgia on January 25, 1971, the son of Shirlene Knight Smith and the late James Hilburn Smith. Prior to declining health, he was a greeter at Walmart. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved softball and played with the Challenge Softball League and was a member of New Town Baptist Church.

His survivors include his loving mom, Shirlene Knight Smith, two sisters, Connie Brown and her husband Greg, and Shannon Smith Petty; brother, James Russell Smith and his wife Shelia; nieces and nephews, Misty and Alan Lackey, Ashley and Jeremiah Smith, Spencer Brown, Carson and Daisy Brown, and Summer Smith; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A service to celebrate Shane’s life will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM from New Town Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Hare, Rev. David Green officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Kevin Benton, Calvin Benton, Jeff Rogers, Keith Ray, Jeff Dixon, and Seth Hunt.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 2nd at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
