Obituary

James "Tub" Norrell, 76, of Sugar Valley died at Gordon Hospital on Monday, September 17, 2018. Tub was born in Calhoun on July 17, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hannibal Norrell and Eva Ingle Norrell. For more than thirty-eight years, he worked at World (Later Mohawk) Carpet. Tub was a member of Hill City Baptist Church; he had previously been a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and drove the church bus.
Tub is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Judy Davenport Norrell; his son, Bill Norrell; his daughter, Pam Norrell Stewart; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Norrell and Melvin Davenport; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Norrell family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
The graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. from Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Shawn Nation and Pastor Barry Brock will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Earnest Cline, Wayne Bowen, Jerry Holsomback, Marvin Tate, Chris Turner, Andy Turner, David Ethridge, and the "Sugar Valley Store Bench Sitters".
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Hill City Baptist Church, 1411 Hill City Road, Resaca 30735. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.maxbrannonandsons.com. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
