Obituary

Mr. George Mclynn "Mac" Wright, 87, of Covington Bridge Road, died Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at his residence, while surrounded by his family.
Mr. Wright was born in Gordon County, GA on January 12, 1933, son of the late, Weston Andrew Wright and Cora Lou Franklin Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Eb Wright (Beulah), Tom Wright (Mozelle), Ralph Wright, Kenneth Wright, Trammel Wright, Gladys Wright Hurd (John), Edna Wright Rogers (N.F.), Linda Wright Angle (Clyde), Janelle Wright Wood (Hoyt) and sister-in-law, Evelyn Young.
Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Army having received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was retired from the U.S. Postal as a rural letter carried after 21 years of service and was previously employed by the Georgia Department of Transportation in the highway engineering department, was a farmer, and for many years raised cattle, poultry, row crops, and hay; was a member of the Calhoun-Gordon County Antique engine and tractor club and member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wright to whom he was married for 63 years, daughters; Sherry Wright Moore and her husband Mickey and Suzanne Wright Roland and her husband Phil, grandchildren; Mandi Moore Potter Pace (Jason), Jared Moore (Amy), Becki Roland Hall (Sherman), Wes Roland (Heather), Beth Moore Henderson (Cody), Great-grandchildren; Gage and Chase Potter, Wes (Brooke), Ayden and Asher Pace, Max and Beau Moore, River and Lakelin Hall, Ava and Maclynn Roland and Boston Ferenti, Mori and Chapman Henderson, Brothers-in-law; Harry Young and Dale Young. Nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives survive.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wright family has chosen to have a drive-through visitation for family and friends at the family farm located, 1640 Covington Bridge Road, Fairmount, GA 30139 after 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 9th. Private graveside services will follow in Chandler Cemetery on Friday, April 10, 2020. Honorary pallbearers serving will include; Jared Moore, Wes Roland, Sherman Hall, Cody Henderson, Chase Potter, and Gage Potter.
