Obituary

Walter Eugene "Gene" Dishroon, 76, of Calhoun, died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at his home, following a brief illness. He was born in Atlanta, GA on June 7, 1943, son of the late Walter and Gladys Fitts Dishroon.
Gene served his country in the United States Navy during the Cuban missile crisis. He had lived in Gordon County for 32 years, moving from Mableton, GA. He had been employed with the Atlanta School Board, and had retired from the Gordon County Board of Education in Heating, AC, and Refrigeration Maintenance.
Survivors include his wife, Gena Davis Dishroon; his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Katie Lynn Dishroon of Calhoun; his grandchildren, Addison Kyle Dishroon and Anna Joyce Dishroon; his brother, James Lamar Dishroon of Powder Springs; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sue Davis of Calhoun; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tammy and Lamar Tinch of Calhoun; and nieces and nephews, Jason and Crissy Davis, Jamie and Cara Davis, and Kelly and Tyler Ferguson.
A memorial service, with Naval Honors, will be held Monday, July 29th at 7:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
In lieu of flower, the family suggests donations be made to your local cancer society in his memory.
