Obituary

Mr. Gary Ralph Rutledge, 79, of Resaca, passed away suddenly at his residence Sunday morning, February 13, 2022.
Mr. Rutledge was born in Gordon County, Georgia on January 10, 1943, son of the late J.B. and Ruby McNeese Rutledge. He attended Resaca School and prior to retirement, he was employed with the State of Georgia Soil Conservation Service.
He was retired from the Georgia National Guard at the Rank of Staff Sargent and was a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rutledge to whom he was married for 29 years; daughters, Sherrie Dobbs and her husband Wayne, Renae Shelton and her husband Keith; son, Brian Richardson; grandchildren, Hannah and Max Holland, Riley Hall, Travis and Amber Hall; great-grandchildren, Blair and Sophia Holland; brother, Felton Rutledge and his wife Ruth; niece and nephew, Tina and Terry Rutledge and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 16th between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside will follow the visitation at Chandler Cemetery with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Pallbearers serving include, Riley Hall, Travis Hall, Chris Burkhalter, Nathan Duke, Terry Rutledge and Chase Rutledge; honorary pallbearers serving include, Rick Davenport and Mike Connally.
