Eugene "Gene" Dillard Dixon

Mr. Eugene "Gene" Dillard Dixon, 82, a longtime resident of the Red Bud Community, died at his home on Sunday, August 14, 2016 following several years of declining health. Gene was born in Gordon County on October 25, 1933; he was the son of the late Elzie and Vinnes May Davenport Dixon. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Dixon; his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ralph Miller. A jack of all trades, he was self-employed. Gene was a Christian who served the Lord.

Survivors include his wife of more than 56 years, Ella Jean Hubbard Dixon; his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Larriann Dixon, and Randy and Shelly Dixon; his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Kevin Allen, Denise and Clay Ward, and Genia and Kenny Miller; his brother, Joe Dixon; his grandchildren, Shaun Smith, Brandon Allen, Brittany Worley, Brooke Dixon, Nichole Cochran, Drew Barnes, Ben Barnes, Joshua Hughes, Justin Skidmore, Lori Galvis, Cassie Dixon,. Randly Lee Dixon, Audra Mills, Franchesca Barrett, and Bethany Clark; his great-grandchildren, Colton Smith, Couper Smith, Isaac Allen, Lucas Allen, Anna Worley, Beck Worley, Jake Cochran, Addie Jean Cochran, Lauren Cochran, Charleigh Barnes, Nellie Kate Barnes, Reagan Hughes, Carson Hughes, Max Galvis, Garrett Bohannon, Madalyn Morrison, Joshua Hales, Saydi Prokop, and Dax Prokop.

The Dixon family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from Crane Eater Community Church. Pastor Howard Strickland and Bishop Lance Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dixon Family Cemetery. Pallbearers are Shaun Smith, Brandon Allen, Drew Barnes, Joshua Hughes, Justin Skidmore, Ben Barnes, Randy Lee Dixon, and Colton Smith.
