Buddy Mulkey

December 5, 1925 — May 19, 2007

John Derwood "Buddy" Mulkey, age 81 of the Ranger Community, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, at his residence. He was born December 5, 1925, son of the late John Henry Mulkey and the late Lura Belle Lenning Mulkey. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Ranger.

Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his wife, Adell Brannon Mulkey. One son Billy Ray Mulkey and one daughter Barbara Mulkey. Two brothers, Doyle and Charles Mulkey and three sisters, Marie Roe, Lora Mulkey and Lenell Mulkey.

Survivors include three sons; Larry Mulkey of Ranger, Harry Mulkey of Dalton and Jerry Mulkey of Ranger; four daughters; Joan Edmonds of Talking Rock, Patricia Collis of Ranger, Wanda Densmore of Oakman and Teresa Mulkey of Calhoun; one brother; Bobby Mulkey, and four sisters, Jo Mulkey of Ranger, Mayzell Pratt of Baltimore, Maryland, Katherine Henson of Ranger and Ruby Brumlow of Ranger. Thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for John Derwood "Buddy" Mulkey will be conducted Monday, May 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Brock officiating. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and they include Neil Edmonds, Jeremy Collis, Jamey Collis, Scott Densmore, Jason Chastain and Daniel Cody Mulkey. Honorary pallbearers include Philip Gilbert, Lamar Franklin, Max Brannon, Brent Brannon, Brian Brannon, James Rogers and Tommy Parker. The gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday at 1:30p.m. The family will be receiving friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m.
