Obituary

Mr. Billy "Bill" Dodd, 73, of Calhoun, died Wednesday February 19, 2020 at Gordon Health and Rehabilitation after several months of declining health.
Bill was born in Gordon County, Georgia on July 25,1946; he was son of the late Roy Henley Dodd and Ethel Bagley Dodd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Maloney Dodd, and by his brothers, Harlen Dodd, Harold Dodd, and Waylon Dodd; his sisters; Melba Dodd and Charlene Dodd Fain. Prior to retirement, Bill was director of maintenance for Mar-Jon Carpets, Carriage Carpets and Dodds Carpet; he attended Red Bud School and was of the Christian faith and a Baptist.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Cornelison and her husband, John, of Calhoun; two sons, Greg Dodd and his wife, Dawn, and Matthew Dodd and his girlfriend, Merri. Five sisters; Evelyn Oliver, Shirley Roland, Hope and Gary Lewis, Faye and Doug Estes and Carol Dodd Puckett. Three brothers; C.J. and Cindy Dodd, Ford Dodd and Ronnie and Melissa Dodd. Grandchildren; Garrett Dodd, Dodd Cornelison, Emilee Cornelison and Ali Laviana. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 4:00 pm from Belmont Baptist Church, 275 W. Belmont Drive, Calhoun, GA 30701. Rev(s) Wesley Hunt and Eddie Brannon will officiate. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Rev. Torrance Mitchell conducting the graveside rites. Pallbearers serving will include; Jeff Covington, Phil Roland, Gerome Crump, Bobby Bradley, Alan Blalock and Mike Dodd. Honorary pallbearers serving include; Glenn Legg, Michael Gilbert, Barry Benton, Jerry Bowen, Gary Lewis and employees of Dodds Carpet.
The family wants to express their gratitude to Angie Roebuck, Angie Childers and the staff at Gordon Healthcare and Rehabilitation for their loving care.
The family will receive friends at Belmont Baptist Church, Friday evening between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
