Mary Ellen Maddox Hollis, 58, of Calhoun, died at her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Mary was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee on September 9, 1959; she was the daughter of the late Rev. John Henry and Shirley Davis Maddox. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, James C. Hollis Sr.; her brother-in-law, Leon Hollis; her sister-in-law, Frances Cantrell. She was a member of Sonoraville Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her husband, James C. Hollis Jr. , with whom she would have celebrated thirty years of marriage on March 4th.; her children, LeFaith Gentry and her husband, Dean, Patrick Reed and his wife, Sharon, Kevin D. Hollis and his fiancée, Shanna Tankersley; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Robin Maddox, and Ted and Debbie Maddox; her sister, Shelia Maddox; her grandchildren, Brianna Reed, Adrienne Reed, Megan Gray, Jacin Gray, William Gentry, Aurora Gentry, and Owen Gentry; her great-grandchildren, Davis and Sawyer Gray; her mother-in-law, Lucille Hollis; her brother-in-law and his wife, Charles and Janice Hollis; her sister-in-law and her husband, Brenda and Billy James; other relatives and friends.
The Hollis family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from Sonoraville Baptist Church. Mary’s body will lie in state at the church on Tuesday, from noon until 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery. Rev. A.C. Smith and Rev. Patrick Reed will officiate. Pallbearers are Dean Gentry, Justin Loudermilk, Jeff Tuttle, Charles Hollis, Jamie Maddox, and Zachary Ogle.
