Cora Mae (Callaway) SerrittAugust 16, 1933 ~ October 13, 2017 (age 84)
Cora Mae Callaway Serritt, 84, of Calhoun, died at Redmond Regional Medical Center on Friday, October 13, 2017, following several months of declining health. Cora was born in Gordon County on August 16, 1933; she was the daughter of the late Bartow and Sudie Jones Callaway. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Serritt, in 1996; her grandson, Steven E. Conner; her brothers, Norman Lyons, John Callaway, and Joe Callaway; her sisters, Loretta Callaway and Deborah Joyce. Cora was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Sue and Ronnie Bishop, Linda and Eddie Conner, and Patricia and Michael Hazelwood; her grandchildren, Angie (Calvin) Ray, Dena (Ryan) Withrow, Shane (Jayla) Serritt, Lee Glass, Aaron Glass, Kenny (Milika) Conner, Stacy Bishop, and Suzy Bishop; nineteen great-grandchildren; her brothers, P.R. Callaway, and Lohnny Callaway; her sister, Nora Eden; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Serritt family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Delmar Davenport will officiate. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Park; Rev. Leonard Crawford will officiate at the graveside service. Cora’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
