Billy C. Goforth, 77, of Plainville, GA, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Gordon County on October 23, 1941, and was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah Burns Goforth in 2015; and his brothers, Gene Goforth, Luther Goforth, Richard Goforth, Charlie Goforth, and Clarence Goforth.
Billy was retired from the Gordon County Landfill Department, and was an active member of the Gordon County Antique Engine and Tractor Club. He attended Corinth and Fellowship Baptist Churches.
Survivors include his sons, David Allen Goforth, and Nathan Wayne Goforth; his grandchildren, David Goforth Jr., Justin Goforth, and Brandon Goforth; his special grandchildren, Joseph, Chandler, and Austin Hunter; five great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Cindy Goforth; and his sister, Mary Lou Burns.
Services to honor the life of Billy C. Goforth will be held Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM from Corinth Baptist Church, with Rev. Bobby Thomas officiating. His body will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the service hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Billy Williamson, Daniel Kimbrell, Alan Hunter, Cecil Briggs, Fred Hensley, David Sheriff, Caleb Bailey, and Jack Inman. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Gordon County Antique Engine and Tractor Club, and a special honorary pallbearer, Phillip Cagle.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1st from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
